The Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) informs economic operators and the public that, taking into consideration the resources and costs of services incurred by MRA in the clearance of goods imported by post or courier, a non-refundable processing fee will be applicable per consignment as from 01 September 2026.
Hence, any person, submitting a declaration for the clearance of goods, imported by post or courier not being merchandise for sale, under Category II (of a value not exceeding Rs 1,000) and under Category III (of a value exceeding Rs 1,000), shall pay a non-refundable processing fee of Rs. 150.
- For goods of Category II (of a value not exceeding Rs 1,000), the processing fee shall be collected by the agent through whom the goods have been imported and the latter shall not later than 30 working days after the end of every month, remit the fees collected to the MRA through one of the following payment options –
- Cash or Cheque drawn to “Mauritius Revenue Authority”;
- Tradenet Electronic Payment System (TEPS); or
- e-service “Mobile Payment of duties and taxes”, available at: https://www.mra.mu/index.php/eservices1/customs
At the beginning of October 2026 and thereafter at the beginning of every month, MRA will provide, via email, to each agent an invoice, specifying the amount of processing fees accrued during that previous month.
For the proper implementation of this measure, each agent is required to communicate by 15 September 2026 his email address to MRA at: stakeholders.customs@mra.mu, to which the monthly invoice will be sent.
Agents are also requested to keep a record of goods under Category II imported through them during a month which may be reconciled with the invoice issued by MRA.
B. For goods of Category III (of a value exceeding Rs. 1,000), the processing fee will be included in the Simplified Declaration required to be submitted.
